Jeff Ament was assaulted and robbed recently in the parking lot of an Atlanta recording studio, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The Pearl Jam [ tickets ] bassist and another man were jumped by three assailants on April 27 outside Southern Tracks studio, where the band is completing its ninth studio album.
The attackers, who were reportedly wearing black masks and brandishing knives, smashed the windows of a rented Jeep and demanded money. Ament was robbed of more than $7,000 in cash and goods, including a Blackberry, according to a police report cited by the newspaper. His passport also was stolen.
Ament attempted to run away but reportedly was knocked to the ground. He sustained a cut on the head but did not require hospitalization.
The robbers, who had been waiting in the woods behind the studio before they jumped Ament, escaped in a black Nissan Maxima.
The attack reportedly was captured on a surveillance camera, but no arrests have been made. Police did not say if the assailants could be identified from the surveillance footage.
Southern Tracks is the home base of producer Brendan O'Brien, who is collaborating with Pearl Jam on its upcoming album.
