Cheryl Wheeler & Catie Curtis

RANDOLPH – Two gifted New England singer-songwriters take the stage on Friday, May 8, at 7:30 p.m., when Catie Curtis and Cheryl Wheeler bring their signature acoustic music to Chandler Music Hall. The New Yorker has called Curtis a "folk-rock goddess." She was first introduced to the grassroots folk scene and established under-the-radar folk musician Wheeler, when she was a student at Brown University. Curtis gravitated toward the solo acoustic guitar, lyric-driven music, and the sometimes comic exchange between performer and audience which Wheeler has mastered. Curtis' style is rootsy and folksy, but with the rhythmic undercurrent of pop/rock music. She's known for her compelling melodies. Curtis has created a dedicated following that has grown steadily over the course of her 15-year career. With nine albums to her credit, she is the recipient of the 2006 International Songwriting Competition Grand Prize and has won several Boston Music Awards. Her music appears in films and television shows such as "Grey's Anatomy" and "Dawson's Creek." Wheeler is both lyric poet and comic who writes with gifted openness about the beauty and poignancy of everyday life, and comically lampoons modern culture. Audience members are able to find their own lives reflected in the austere genius of her songs.
