Limited-series of photographic portraits is timed to release of the music icon's new album, Preliminaires
YellowKorner, a European leader in the production and merchandising of limited-edition contemporary photography, and EMI Music, one of the world's leading music companies, have teamed up to bring music fans a limited- edition, exclusive set of photographic portraits of rock music icon Iggy Pop on the occasion of the international release of his album, Préliminaires, on May 25th.
From May 5th on, fans across Continental Europe will be able to acquire gallery and museum quality exclusive images of Iggy Pop shot by French photographer Xavier Martin, best known for his iconic images of Serge Gainsbourg, Robert Mitchum, Catherine Deneuve, among others.
Iggy Pop, considered to be the 'godfather of punk', and best known for classics such as The Passenger or Lust For Life, is back at the forefront of the music scene with a new album whose themes and texts have been inspired by Iggy's reading of controversial French novelist Michel Houellebecq, and his award-winning book "The Possibility Of An Island". The album, entitled Préliminaires, offers a new perspective on the artist with jazz and New Orleans-inspired overtones.
Available in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, and Spain, across a large panel of physical retail outlets including FNAC, Cultura, Galerie Lafayette, and Feltrinelli, as well as online at www.yellowkorner.com, collectors and fans can choose between two editions:
· A framed and numbered Open Edition series, choice of one of three visuals, sold with a 4 tracks from Préliminaires (King Of The Dogs, )
· A limited edition portrait - 10 visuals available in a limited edition of 30 prints each, numbered and signed by the artists and sold with a CD album of Preliminaires, including visuals created by Marjane Satrapi, Academy Award nominee for her animated film, 'Persepolis' in 2007.
YellowKorner and EMI Music will back this operation with a marketing campaign on Metro display, press and web.
Peter Palmer, Senior Vice President of Global Merchandising, EMI Music, said: "Music fans have always collected posters and visual memorabilia- our collaboration with YellowKorner provides an opportunity for fans to acquire great quality, numbered and framed images of one of the most extraordinary faces in the music world. And for the die-hard fan of either photography or Iggy Pop, or both, this limited edition series takes the tradition of music portraiture to a whole new level".
Paul-Antoine Briat, CEO, YellowKorner said: "EMI Music is very creative and innovative partner—and Iggy Pop is a fascinating subject for a photographer. The images in this series are intense and remarkable, like the subject himself. This is the first in what we hope will be an artist series that take both the music and the photography experience a step further for consumers. We asked Xavier Martin to shoot Iggy in the same spirit as the shots he took of Serge Gainsbourg 30 years ago and the result is truly remarkable".
This operation was initiated by Reset, an innovative label created in 2007 by EMI Music France with a mission to create new products and services for both artists and fans. Recent projects have included interactive video listening parties and live concert recordings sold on USB cards.
