Madeline Huberth, a 2007 Monroe-Woodbury graduate, is one of 11 cellists selected to study this summer at Santa Barbara’s Music Academy of the West, a prestigious eight-week orchestral fellowship program. She is a second-year cello performance major at the University of Michigan’s School of Music and a physics major in the University’s Literature, Science and the Arts Honor’s College where she was named a James B. Angell Scholar for her consecutive terms of high grades. Before attending the Music Academy, Madeline will be working under the guidance of a physics professor doing research on the workings of sound processing in the human inner ear and the use of echolocation and the Doppler Effect in select mammals.
