McElhone feared financial ruin after husband's death

Actress Natascha Mcelhone feared she would lose her home after her husband died suddenly without leaving a will.
The Californication star was devastated when her partner, plastic surgeon Martin Kelly, collapsed and died of a heart attack on the steps of their London home last year.

And McElhone, who was pregnant with the couple's third son at the time of Kelly's death, was forced to deal with the financial repercussions of the tragedy - which nearly left her penniless.

She tells Harper's Bazaar magazine, "I was finishing this job (Californication) and I had a lot of debt to pay off. Martin did have life insurance, but because he didn't have a will, it was going to intestate. Martin's estate was zero - there was nothing in it because he had reinvested all his money into his practise. I was the one who paid for everything else and my money is in our house. It was unbelievably stressful and that's why I'm amazed that my pregnancy was fine - nothing went wrong."
