Bob Dylan Marks Second Week As U.K. No. 1

Bob Dylan started a second week atop the U.K. album chart yesterday (Sunday) with "Together Through Life" (Columbia/Sony BMG), as "Number 1" (4th & Broadway/Universal Island) by Tinchy Stryder featuring N-Dubz took the singles crown for a third week.

"Life" is Dylan's first U.K. No. 1 album since "New Morning" in 1970, but it's his first to spend more than a week at the peak since "Nashville Skyline" the year before. The new set stayed on top ahead of three former No.1 albums: Lady Gaga's "The Fame" (Interscope/Universal), which was back up 3-2; Lily Allen's "It's Not Me It's You" (Regal/Parlophone/EMI), up 5-3; and Pink's "Funhouse" (LaFace/Sony BMG), up 6-4.

Pink's LaFace labelmate Ciara debuted at No. 9 with "Fantasy Ride," while the former Cat Stevens, Yusuf Islam, arrived at No. 10 with the album that marks his return to Universal's Island label, "Roadsinger." The Maccabees' "Wall of Arms" (Fiction/Polydor/Universal) began at No. 13 and fellow English band Gallows' "Grey Britain" (Warner Bros.) at No. 20.

Tinchy Stryder's third week atop the singles chart came in an unchanged top three, with La Roux's "In For The Kill" (Polydor/Universal) at No. 2 for a fourth week and "Tiny Dancer (Hold Me Closer)" (Asylum/Warner Music) by Ironik featuring Chipmunk & Elton John, holding at last week's No. 3 debut position.

Miley Cyrus has two Hollywood/EMI singles on the way up the U.K. chart, "The Climb," 13-11, and "Hoedown Throwdown" 30-18. The Prodigy's "Warrior's Dance"(Takemetothehospital) improved 16-14 and "Takin' Back My Love" (Interscope/Universal) by Enrique Iglesias featuring Ciara, reversed last week's 15-18 fall. The U.S./Canadian collaboration "I Remember" (Ministry) by Deadmau5 & Kaskade climbed 26-19, while Britney Spears' "If You Seek Amy" (Jive/Sony BMG) made the top 20 in its sixth week with a 23-20 climb.

Depeche Mode's "Sounds of the Universe" (Mute/EMI) is in a second week at Billboard's European Top 100 Albums summit, and it's an 11th week at No. 1 on Eurochart Hot 100 Singles for Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" (Interscope/Universal).
