KUCHING, May 12 (Bernama) -- Sarawak music group Tuku Kame, resident artistes at the Sarawak Cultural Village are expected to do Malaysia proud at the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Los Angeles, United States from July 11-19.
Sarawak Economic Development Corporation chairman Datuk Talip Zulpilip said Tuku Kame would get to show their talent at WCOPA, Los Angeles after winning the Worldstars Road to Hollywood programme at Istana Budaya, Kuala Lumpur recently.
"Tuku Kame sape player Jerry Kamit can spring a surprise at WCOPA, the olympic for performing arts attended by artistes from 40 countries."
Talip said Tuku Kame which performed the song "Puteri Santubong" qualified to represent the country as it managed to blend traditional music with modern arrangement.
Malaysia will be represented by 24 contestants in various categories, including Lawas-born Bob of Akademi Fantasia fame.
